About Each Class

First Joy JK class provides a year of social development, academic learning and building independence in preparation for Kindergarten. Each week we work with a different theme, learn about a letter and its sound, a number, and enjoy reading books that relate to our weekly theme. Themes include community, holidays, and science-related themes. Hands on learning includes calendar time, center time, teacher directed table work, and lots of fun group activities/experiments. Our day also includes snack time, lunch, playtime/recess and an end of the day rest time. During the spring semester, we also work with sight words and introduce journal writing.  Our goal is to prepare each student for success in Kindergarten and instill a love of learning!

In our PreK program we focus on cooperative play, social-emotional development, fine/gross motor skills, and pre-writing skills which are crucial for the overall development of young children.  We utilize The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, which is an excellent choice for introducing pre-writing skills, letters, letter sounds, and numbers.

By incorporating center time, small group instructional learning, and art activities, we provide a well-rounded learning experience for the children. Center time allows children to explore and engage in hands-on activities independently, fostering their creativity and problem-solving skills. Small group instruction provides opportunities for targeted teaching and individualized support, ensuring each child's needs are met.

Additionally,  we believe that a nurturing environment is essential for creating a positive and safe space where children feel comfortable and motivated to learn.  Providing a nurturing environment promotes the social and emotional well-being of the children, fostering positive relationships with peers and teachers.

Overall, our PreK program strives to provide a comprehensive approach to early childhood education, addressing various areas of development and creating an environment that supports growth and learning.

In our 2K program, we strive to cultivate a positive, happy school experience,  We believe children learn best through play and exploration.  We provide a wide range of activities to allow the children to build small and large motor skills, enjoy art, and learn through interacting with many materials.  We select books, activities, and art experiences to foster each child's love of reading.  We provide a warm, loving environment for the children to learn and grow.

Our Big Bears classroom begins at 16 months. It's a joyful and nurturing space where little ones can explore, learn, and grow. Safety is our utmost priority, so we have age-appropriate toys and equipment that encourages motor skills development. Our caring and attentive teachers create a warm and loving environment, providing the support and guidance needed for each child. We also foster language skills through interactive play, storytelling, and engaging activities. It's a place where little ones can thrive, make friends, and feel loved!

Our Little Lions classroom starts with babies 12 months and older. We create a nurturing and caring environment where little ones can thrive. Safety is our top priority, so we make sure everything is child-proofed and secure. Our loving teachers provide plenty of attention and affection, helping the children develop their motor skills through fun and engaging activities. We also encourage language development by incorporating songs, stories, and interactive games. It's a place where little ones can grow, learn, and feel loved every step of the way! 

Our Baby Bunnies classroom starts with 6 months old. It's a warm and nurturing environment where our little ones can explore and grow. We abide to Tennessee health regulations to keep the room safe and clean. Our caring and attentive teachers provide lots of love and support, creating a warm and secure space for their growth. We also engage them in sensory activities and fun interactions to encourage early language development. It's a place filled with care, giggles, and lots of love!
